The Indian e-commerce industry has been on an upward growth trajectory and is expected to surpass the US to become the second largest e-commerce market in the world by 2034. The e-commerce market is expected to reach US$ 64 billion by 2020 and US$ 200 billion by 2026 from US$ 38.5 billion as of 2017.Amazon Trained Ecommerce Specialist (ATES) program will help to build Entrepreneurs and Freelancers for E-commerce Industry.

With growing internet penetration, internet users in India are expected to increase from 481 million as of December 2017 to 829 million by 2021. Rising internet penetration is expected to lead to growth in ecommerce. India’s internet economy is expected to double from US$125 billion as of April 2017 to US$ 250 billion by 2020, majorly backed by ecommerce.

With the exponential growth in the Ecommerce industry, also comes a challenge for small scale sellers to sustain the tug of war between offline and online retail. It is imperative for all the small scale retailers and manufacturers to catch the online wave. However, due to lack of technical knowledge and know-how, they are not able to utilize the benefits of online selling. In order to address this challenge, AMAZON India started AMAZON Certified E-Commerce Specialist program to help small-scale sellers and manufacturers by training professionals and entrepreneurs. Undoubtedly, AMAZON is the largest e-commerce platform and sellers would find substantial benefits to come aboard. Amazon Trained E-commerce Specialist (ATES) is a first of its kind entrepreneurship program launched by Amazon, which is aimed at providing business opportunities to budding entrepreneurs. This program provides an opportunity to earn money with no limits.

AMAZON India would help build entrepreneurs and freelancers who want to have an opportunity to earn good money. Amazon India is running the program since 2014, currently, the program is running in 41 locations, trained ~7500 individuals and certified 6500 individuals (95% of them are Individuals entrepreneurs who are onboarding new sellers and supporting existing sellers). Majority of them started their entrepreneurship journey through this program. This includes a mix of part-time and full-time individuals who are earning an avg. of ~Rs. 35000 per month.
